The game is basically a really good Ghost 'n Goblins/Ghouls 'n Ghosts clone with several different endings depending on how you beat the game. Locomalito has also released some really cool (as well as free) arcade games over the years and he recently released an updated version of Hydorah called Super Hydorah for both PC and consoles.

Hi, I'm a former game journalist, but even though I don't do that professionally anymore, I still have, you know, opinions. One of those opinions is that while I thoroughly enjoy games on Nintendo platforms, there are a lot of them that you have to wade through to get to the good stuff. So many, in fact, that there aren't too many reviews of some of them. With this in mind, I'll be contributing my own reviews and mini-reviews of these games to this subreddit so anyone who's curious can have something more to judge the quality of these games and try to weed out the diamonds from the rough. And just to be clear, I'm not paid by anyone, I'm not making any money off of this. I'm just doing this because I wanna'. Genre: Compilation/3D PlatformerPlayers: 1.Review:Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a remake of the three family-friendly PlayStation One 3D Platformers Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
This game lovingly recreates the classic platformers with completely redone graphics on par with more modern games. The Switch version of the game is somewhat of a visual downgrade from the other platforms, keeping the 30fps framerate, but dropping the resolution from 1080p to 720p (480p in handheld mode), and reducing some of the game's visual effects. However, these cuts to the game seem pretty well-measured, as the end result is still an absolute visual feast, with wonderfully expressive, colorful, and detailed characters and environments, excellent use of lighting, and some of the most delightful, expressive animation you'll see in a videogame today.

In short, even on Nintendo's underpowered hardware, this trilogy of remakes is still very easy on the eyes. And of course the game retains the superb voice acting and cartoony sound effects that lent the other versions of the game so much delightful charm. The gameplay here is just as good as ever, too. While the game is technically a 3D Platformer, the series' level design focuses on narrow, corridor-shaped levels, which has the result of making each level feel a bit like an obstacle course of sorts. As such, this trilogy's difficulty level is a bit higher than other 3D Platformers, with the game's claustrophobic environments leaving players with few options and the low number of hits they can take before dying punishing players for small mistakes. That said, this is a game series that gradually improved, with the second game in the series keeping the corridor-shaped levels but widening these corridors, and the third game keeping in line with the second and adding more variety. However, all three still maintain that high difficulty level, thanks in part to a few issues with the game that haven't aged as well.Firstly, the game's controls don't feel quite as precise as I'd like, and given the extreme importance of precision jumps in this game, I found myself dying numerous times thanks to simple jumps that I should have been able to make. This may also be due to the game's other major issue - the camera.
This game uses a camera that is fixed behind Crash as he walks down the game's corridors (or off to the side in bonus stages), and this perspective can at times make it hard to judge jumps, or even make it difficult to see things hidden behind the level's scenery. This problem is very apparent in occasional stages that have the player running toward the camera, although the game tries to compensate for this by hanging farther back than usual in these stages.Still, while the gameplay in the Crash Bandicoot trilogy hasn't aged quite as well as one would like, this is still three overall very good games with an absolutely phenomenal presentation. Players looking for a great-looking platformer with a lot of content on the Switch, and who don't mind a high difficulty level, will do well to check this out.tl;dr - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a collection of the original three PlayStation Crash Bandicoot games, family-friendly 3D Platformers that have been given a glorious makeover here. The gameplay is still excellent as well, though it has aged a bit in places - the restricted level design and unforgiving gameplay can be a cause for frustration. However, overall this is a superb collection well worth having.
